Continuing our HookLoada under-the-microscope series, we’re now taking a closer look at how enhancements to chassis and hook tower geometry are delivering BIG improvements to everyday operation.

This time, under-the-microscope: chassis, hook tower & rear roller design…

LOWER PICK-UP ANGLE = BIGGER PAYLOAD

The HL220 hooklift trailer has been re-designed around a 30mm lower roller height and longer hook arm stroke which combine to reduce the pick-up angle when loading containers. This means less lifting effort throughout the loading cycle, making it easier to load heavier containers while reducing stresses on the trailer — enhancing long-term durability.

The overall outcomes of a lower roller height?
Lower centre of gravity — improved cornering performance
Lower power required — bigger payload potential, up to 23.5t
Greater stability — improved stability while loading, on & off-road
Less component stress — reduced service & maintenance costs

LONGER HOOK ARM STROKE = 5% MORE BULK CAPACITY

A further operator-benefit of the evolved HL220 hook loader design is the longer hook tower stroke which has been increased from 1,200mm to 1,350mm with a 1,500mm option available.

The additional 300mm offers greater versatility across different container lengths while also helping to further lower the pick-up angle. It also enables users to handle bulk containers up to 300mm longer, unlocking significantly greater capacity with every load. Combined with the lower pick-up angle, this provides the potential to move substantially more material, every working cycle.

The additional 300mm container length adds approximately 4.6% more volume (2.3m³) and up to 1.15 tonnes of payload at 500kg/m³. Imagine moving up to 5% more material, every single load…

OPTIMISED CHASSIS TRACK

The HL220 chassis has been optimised with a narrower track and strategically-positioned Hardox stiffeners, further enhancing HookLoada’s already outstanding steering articulation while increasing strength and durability where it matters most.

The new narrow-track chassis allows standard centre-mounted rims to be used on 2,550mm wide hook loader trailers, eliminating the need for +80mm offset rims as standard.

The benefits for the operator are significant:
Narrower-track — enhanced steering articulation
Hardox reinforcement — added strength, where it matters
Standard rims — more cost-effective configuration
Optional offset rims — even greater steering angle available

SIMPLER. LIGHTER. STRONGER.

The rear roller assembly has also been re-designed with a single shaft now supporting both rear rollers; a simpler construction with fewer components, reducing hook loader trailer weight and overall maintenance requirements. Again, the operator benefits of this evolution are substantial…

Lighter trailer — even bigger payload potential
Fewer components — simpler, more robust design
Less maintenance — fewer lubrication points & reduced maintenance

Lowering the roller height by just 30mm and increasing hook arm stroke by 300mm may sound like marginal gains. But together with the optimised chassis, longer hook tower stroke and improved rear roller assembly, they deliver a significant improvement in the way HL220 loads containers, travels around corners and performs in particularly demanding work.

Lower pick-up angle. Greater stability. More versatility. Less stress. That’s the difference that continuous Stronga innovation enables for our customers.

Only 25 special-edition hook loader trailers will ever be produced. Available to order until the end of 2026, subject to availability. Speak to the Stronga team today.

HookLoada is a hero of applications
Simply change the container and transform its utility from transporting bulk materials to forestry residues, heavy plant, liquids and more.

With the right combination of containers, one hook loader trailer can tackle multiple jobs throughout the year, helping businesses get more from a single investment, maximise utilisation and reduce the need for multiple specialised machines. Imagine how the Stronga hook loader could work for you in the videos below.
