As we continue the HookLoada ‘under-the-microscope’ series, reviewing the upgraded design of the new HL220 Anniversary-trailer, we're now taking a closer look at one of the biggest innovations in recent years…
Stronga ISOSteer™
STEERING, ELECTRIFIED
ISOSteer™, Stronga's new electro-hydraulic steering system, puts control directly at the driver’s fingertips via the tractor’s ISOBUS screen, making HookLoada easier to manoeuvre on the road and around the yard.
On tandem-axle trailers, ISOSteer™ enables steering control in ‘Auto’ and ‘Manual’ modes, whereas on tri-axle models, ‘Crab’ steering is available for even better manoeuvrability in confined spaces.
No ISOBUS on your tractor? No problem. For tractors without ISOBUS capability, an optional dedicated touchscreen controller provides the same simple electronic steering experience.
Less complexity. More control. Easier steering. Read on to learn more or see ISOSteer™ in action in the video below.
THE PROBLEMS WITH POSITIVE STEERING
Traditional mechanically-linked positive steering systems can provide effective steering control, but their complexity creates a number of practical challenges in everyday operation.
1) Tractor compatibility — Mechanical steering systems can require specific physical connections and careful adjustment when moving between tractors. ISOSteer™ removes this issue when used with an ISOBUS-equipped tractor, allowing the steering system to communicate electronically through the tractor.
2) Vulnerable mechanical connections — Traditional systems rely on mechanical arms, linkages and ball ends connected directly to the tractor. These components are exposed to damage during operation, and damage to a steering linkage can leave the system inoperable until components are repaired or replaced.
3) Specialist setup — Mechanical steering geometry must be correctly configured and aligned. Incorrect setup or adjustment can cause excessive loads, wear or damage from the outset, making correct installation and operator adjustment particularly important.
4) More potential failure points — Combining mechanical linkages, steering geometry, hydraulics, pressure systems and accumulators creates multiple components that must work correctly together. Each additional connection or adjustment introduces another potential point of failure — as well as another opportunity for operator error.
ISOSteer™ takes a different approach. By replacing the complex mechanical connection to the tractor with electronic control through ISOBUS, Stronga has simplified the steering interface, reduced the number of exposed mechanical components and made the system considerably less dependent on operator setup and adjustment.
The result is a more straightforward, modern steering system designed for simpler connection, easier operation and dependable performance in real-world working conditions.
ISOSTEER™ BENEFITS AT-A-GLANCE
MODE CONTROL - Greater manoeuvrability, reduced tyre scrub and easier handling with automatic, manual and crab-steering modes (crab on tri-axle trailers only).
LOW WEAR - Precise, controlled, steady steering reduces tyre and component wear, helping cut maintenance, repairs and lifetime service costs.
ADAPTABLE - Maximum steering angles can be tailored and configured to suit different operating conditions and customer requirements.
RELIABILITY - ISOSteer™ is designed to maintain manoeuvrability, allowing the steering axle to be locked in the unlikely event of a system fault.
ISOBUS - Connect directly to the tractor’s ISOBUS display for simple control without additional hardware or screens.
SAFETY - Electro-hydraulic control delivers precise steering movements while maintaining a high level of operational safety.
